Griff/Chim Window Alignment

Anyone out there successfully re-aligned their side windows? My drivers door window is a snug fit against the rubber seal at the rear, but has a 4mm whistling gap at the front. Twiddling the height adjuster just makes it too tight at the back end. Planning to slacken the top rear and two bottom frame securing nuts and insert some shims to bring the window parallel to the seal. Is it that simple, or will I be cursing the day I removed the door panel by the end of the weeekend? Any advice appreciated.

I have a similar issue and was about to try replacing the rubbers with new ones from TMS. I have heard that the newer rubber is firmer and sits better. However this is just a long shot.

just replaced the rubber on the Chim - made things a bit better as the profile is obviously newer but mine are still the same as yours - ie: lower at one end than the other. Rubber was cheap tho and easy to fit...

The worst bit is getting the door panel back on afterwards, as it is full arm stretch, with the speaker aperture digging in to the biceps.

Just as you are furkling the nut on to the bolt, it drops down in to the door, and the panel has to come off again.

Even when I got the nut on, I dropped the spanner inside.

Successfully sorted the problem! Shied away from re-aligning the frame, instead repositioned the glass within the carrier. The carrier is secured to the window lifter with two 10mm bolts, loosening these gives scope for minimal realignment. However, it is easier to simply prise one end of the glass (gently) within the spring steel / rubber carrier to bring the glass parallel to the seal. The seal is now perfect.
Having said that, it would undoubtedly have been simpler to renew the targa seals, but nothing like a challenge!

I found that the easiest method, by far, when faced with this problem was to get Joolz at Joospeed to do it. Done in minutes, absolutely spot on - thanks Joolz!
