Whats the story on this LS7 Sag?
Discussion
Just been browsing through the Sags for sale and came across this monster!!!

Anyone know the background to this car? Not that I could afford it, just that it looks pretty interesting!

Someone on here emailed me earlier to see if Topcats had done it and I assure you they had not.
1 Exhaust manifold sticking out
Alternator in the air
Air filter next to rad
Power steering not standard
Loads of extra pulleys
Pipes everywhere
That is not what I call a good job

I'm sure I've seen that engine bay posted on here before (at least a year ago).

It was on a thread where there was a lot of arguing about whether an LS engine would fit a T-car chassis, and that pic was posted by someone who said they had just fitted one. Can't find it now as pistonheads search appears broken (again). Did find this though...

You are 100% spot in, we looked at pictures of this before we did our conversion and we used the pictures to work out how we were not going to do it.

Found it - bottom of this page. Seems it's only done 200 miles since August 2009?

Back then I'd hoped it meant that it would also fit in a Tuscan, but sadly the poster never really answered any questions on it.
page 5 says ....Mr Leech & co? fitted the enginehttp://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

only £78,850!!Surely this is a spoof?
Add to that the cost of an LS conversion?
You get to the £80k mark quite easily.
It's just a question of whether someone will stump up.
The most expensive for sale on here is an RG rebuild for £41k That leaves us £37k+ for an LS conversion. My expression of incredulity is due to the fact that I just can't imagine why anyone would want to do it at this price. By all means, take one with a blown engine (although my understanding is that that SP6 was sorted in time for the Sags)and shove a great V8 in it - but i stll can't work out the maths.
As you rightly say, it is worth what someone will pay for it... but i'll happily show my bum in Burton's window if that sells for anything near that price - lovely as i'm sure it is

I think every one needs to understand that you can do a LS7 conversion for the said 21K on another post on here but it will not be a very good one in my eyes and you will end up spending another 9K over the next year or so to get it right. There is so much more to do than just put the engine in, a good example is drive shafts you can keep the originals but they will not last (ask Brummie and there are no off the shelf ones like there are for a cerb), you can keep the diff with the same final ratio but you may as well just use fourth and fifth.
I wish mine cost 21K, you pay your money and take your chance, you can though of course put a second hand engine and parts in which I was not prepared to do, I was also not prepared for my engine bay to look like the one in the car for sale.
On costs of a Sag, if I had the speed 6 in mine with the mileage of the car I would be looking for very late 40's for it due to its age so yes it would be more expensive than any car for sale at the moment but I actually gave someone a cheque back to them which was written in front of me for mine for late 40's. There are Sags like Graham's which would have a price tag and an agreed valuation of 70K there are buyers for decent Sag's. If I owned the sag for sale I would have taken the engine out and sold it separately and sold the rolling chassis of the car in a separate deal.

By my crude maths I would assume that if this is a brand new Sag then a price of £50K plus has to be the focus point.
I also suspect that it would be easy to pay nearly £30k for an engine conversion.
To me the price stacks up well enough, but I would also be standing next to you in Burtons if it sells anytime soon.
