Radiator replacement?
Discussion
My rad's been leaking on my griffith for months and I think it's about time I got around to sorting it out. Now the summer's coming I'll be needing all the cooling I can get!!
My question is.. Is it possible to get the radiator re-cored by a radiator specialist or do I have to get a genuine TVR jobby?
I've had the car for 7 years and I've always got one eye on the temperature gauge. I bought a mod wise two stage cooling kit (not fitted yet). But I was wondering if filling the cooling system with 'wetter water' was worth doing. If not, is there a particular brand of antifreeze with optimum inhibitor properties for the V8 anyone can recommend?
Any comments appreciated.
Thanks

Might be from the Chim forum, but esentially the same info. See link:

From my minimal experience, if it's just a few of the core tubes leaking, then they can either be soldered up or replaced. The latter can turn into a game or a disaster as unsoldering one pipe can bugger up its neighbour and so on till the whole thing is shagged. If one of the tanks is gone, then maybe replacement is the best way. Bottom line is that the radiator is an extrmemly simple thing held in with a couple of bolts and plumbed in with two hoses. Any pillock (me for example) should be capable of removing it and almost any pillock with the right tools can repair it if it is repairable. If you do have to get a replacement from the factory I think they are about £150 before VAT.
