Has anyone sold a supercharged Chimaera?

Just out of idle curiosity, I wondered if any of these conversions had come up for sale, and if so what sort of premium a good one on a 450 would carry?

Well to be honest, i've never even seen on of these conversions, let alone had one on my dyno, if it had i'm sure it would have been a great conversion that made great power.

There was one on classifieds a few months ago for around £10k as i recall. Can't comment on its condition though.

Well, and this is a guess obviously, I would say yes, but only if it was an exceptional kit.

Thats interesting, thanks Wyn. Standard 450's seem to be selling for at least that at the moment. I wonder if the market has picked up?

Surely £10,000 is very cheap for a SC Chim..?
Good condition Chims can go for £10,000 - I'm amazed that a special engined car would go so cheap...

The one in the classifieds was owned by my ex boss, he had spent loads on the car and it was in great condition. The engine had been built as a 4.6 by TVR power before the supercharger install.
Full re-spray, custom made SS exhaust, new dash the list goes on.
He had trips to Le Mans and nurburgring this year with only and thermostat failure

The only other one I remember was a maroon coloured 400SC about a year or so ago & that was £14-15k.

Oh thanks for that. I remember now. I think it was in Monaco or somewhere else on foreign soil. I saw it up at Power in October. An absolute bargain, not to be repeated i expect

Not sold one but I've been considering it on and off for a while now. Mine's going in for a respray soon so if I did sell it, it would be in top notch condition with a big list of mods on. If I were to sell it I'd be looking for at least £15k I'd say. If you think about it, a decent 450 goes for £10-12k and an SC-modified one will have mods on to the value of around £10k. Not to say that adds £10k to the car, but it will certainly up it slightly. With the power and handling upgrades they have, they will easily out-handle and out pace just about any other TVR you can buy and the price should reflect that.

Thats the same logic that i have applied Nick. As always, it will sell for what someone will pay for it, but i wonder who would be in the market for uch a car. Would it mostly appeal to another Chim owner, who loves the car but wants more power (much more power!), and doesn't want the aggro (and extra cost)of having the conversion done themselves, or someone who wants to get straight into some hardcore TVR. Depending on how the next couple of months go, i may well find out.

Hmm well keep me posted if you do... I really don't want to sell it as I've spent so many hours working on it over the years, but with the Tuscan nearing completion, me needing something to tow it with and my working and moving up to central London, I'm not sure its going to get much use. I know I couldn't get even close to a car that good for anything like that money though so I'm not so inclined to sell unless I really need to.

ive been in a 450 SC'd chim, i think it was just under 400bhp at SRR. I loved it, sounds awsome, amazing power delivery, only thing i will slate is u can almost feel the chassis starting to 'twist' when on full chat

Can't say I've noticed this? Apart from the odd niggles getting it up and running perfectly, I have to say it is a remarkably good system and having had mine on for around 10k+ miles, its actually nicer to drive than a standard car. My GF drives it all the time (not a petrolhead) and loves it, yet it can still slay just about anything when you put your foot down

I would entirely agree with Nick here. I'd like to think that i have driven mine as enthusiatically as speed limits and conditions would allow, and never felt any chassis twist. The rear end just hunkers down, finds some grip and blasts away. This car was built to be a convertible, although admittedly not expecting so much power.

Take a look at my old clips on youtube under 'dbv8nos'.
My car squats a lot on tired old billies and does lift a lot at the front but its not what i would call chassis 'twist'. Just the suspension working a bit harder. I had similar power and torque levels using nitrous.
