Uprated diff mounts

Any one know where I can buy a set for a chimaera with a GKN Diff?

I remember someone was looking for some but couldnt find any so re-inforced the originals. I would be interested also if you do find any just for future reference.

I think the front 2 mounts should be ok but it wouldnt do any harm to add a little beef. My diffs coming back out for longer gearing so i will be doing this. Its the rear mount thats the weak point and needs to be made from a thicker plate at least. There isnt much room to play with.
There is a thread on the cerbera forum about this but i cant find it at the moment.

What is it you are concerned about Richard?

Is it the early chassis arrangement where there is no real longitudinal encapsulation of the carriers on the bush, or the actual strength of the bracket / chassis mount itself?

TBH What I will be throwing at it, I think it will need looking at and beefing up at some point

Extra gusseting will help out allot for strengthening the top mount,I also went solid aluminum bush. You shouldn't have any issues with the bottom mounts.

I beg to differ with the earlier floating arrangement, which quite possibly you haven't seen & I'm not sure that the OP has a later arrangement. Within Chim/Griff pages we've covered several times the problems of installing poly bushes on those chassis versions where the bush can just pop out of the carrier and ride down the bearing, ie maybe marginally OK with an interference fit bush but even then...

I am just putting my diff back in on a `92 Griff and have purchased a set of three diff poly bushes from Steve Heath. It wasnt until they arrived that i realised that the two front ones needed to be slightly smaller, only a few mil both in length and diameter. This is apparently only on early cars. I have decided to cut the bush in half removing about 8mm from the middle and then press them in from either side of the carrier. The bushes are only 2mm to big on the diameter so give a nice tight interference fit. I initially thought that by cutting them in half they could try and move back out of the carrier but when fitted one edge of them on each side of the carrier butts up against a vertical chassis rail so i cant see that they will move. If any one can see a problem here or has done this and it hasnt worked please tell me now.

I note Spend says this problem with the early cars has been discussed before but cant find any info with the search facility.

You want to have a chat with Ant, he modified the chassis with washers to hold the poly-bushes IIRC. He may have some pictures etc.?
