High octane fuel

OK so I've had the Griff for 6 days now ( ) and I have just one question...

When exactly did it become impossible to get 97RON fuel on the majority of UK forecourts?

Is shell Optimax the only option or is the new expensive BP fuel the same stuff?

My poor car has now had 2 half tank fulls of muck and sounds like a Tractor

Help!

I find that Optimax does NOT seem to make a difference with my car, but the BP stuff does....strange but true...I stuff the odd tank of semi skimmed in and it doesn't seem to hurt

I've never really had any trouble getting super unleaded anywhere. I generally try to put Optimax (98 RON) in, but failing that any super unleaded (including the new BP ultimate), failing that I'll put a tenner of normal unleaded and then find a garage with the good stuff.

Tell the truth though, my car doesn't really feel much different no matter what I put in!

When I got my car a few weeks ago I put the Esso premium stuff in and it runs well, I then had to put a tank of BP's premuim stuff and the car run lumpy and pinked at rev's below 2k, I replaced it with the ~Esoo stuff and after a 1/4 tank the car was running normal agian. So I avoid BP stations and try and find Esso stns as most of them appear to have a premium pump

The Ultimate used to be around 4p a litre cheaper than it is now. Don't know why it has increased so much so quickly. Optimax is now cheaper so using this even though the stations aren't as conveniently located.
