A nice big thank you to Heath & Paul @ X - WORKS SERVICE,

Had my Chimaera for the week to do Outrigger replacement and picked her up on Saturday and enjoyed a nice spirited drive home via Yorkshire, Scotland.

The beastie feels great, as they did bushes and few other wee jobs too.

the Outriggers are perfect, the chassis looks like its new out of the box and not done 135,000 miles. Now with the new outriggers that will be her for another good 10 years of worry free chassis thoughts.

They had my Griffith in recently for new Gaz Gold shockers all round, some new bushes (I was going to have polybushes, but they suggested I stick with the original type), and the suspension all reset. The car feels superb, and a very professional job done. Brilliant.

just for the record why would you favour the standard bushes rather than polybushes, ive always found superflex bushes improve the car 100%

Polybushes may give better feel but I've been told that they should be replaced every three years or so as they're not as durable as the standard items.

X Works do the servicing on my Griff and are excellent! Very knowledgeable and not as expensive as many places - also they are not the ones to do stuff that isn't really needed either so highly recommmended.

There are loads of "myths" going round about poly bushes I'm afraid.

The poly bushes on my wedge were fitted in 1999. Still no wear in them despite the hammering the car gets on track and in competition.

My Cerbera has a mixture but it is the metalastics ones that are showing the first signs of wear.

There are also many different types of poly bushes and they are not the same. For example the superflex bushes are a poly core with a metal sleeve. Get the wrong hardness for the core and they will wear. The Powerflex ones have a metal glacier type bearing built into them so it is the bearing that takes the movement rather than a metal to poly interface. Both poly bushes but totally different designs.

Powerflex are so confident of their durability that they give a lifetime warranty.

As I said, I was going to have polybushes fitted, but Heath and Paul both said they prefer cars with standard bushes if the car was to used mainly for the road, which mine is. I can only go off their recommendations. Remember, these are the guys who Peter wheeler chose to run the factory service centre, so they do know what they are talking about.

Just too add to my original post,

I have had the Chimaera for 12 years, but as she is a 96 car, I can trace and state that only 3 TVR Service Garages have ever worked on the beastie,
Brandon Scotland - Noel Flannery from new till I got here,
Torque Flyte Engineering - Greg Connolly from Feb 99 to well as long as I have her
X-Works Service - Heath & Paul for this important chassis work

There are others out there I could go to, but for strength of knowledge, skill, these are the only TVR people I will ever trust with my beastie, cost never comes into it, skill & knowledge always come first with me.
