Comments about the Ultimate TVR Shootout

Not sure what to make of this.....
'The event is a public RWYB day on the Saturday and a BMW show on the Sunday, so not a TVRCC event, but a public event that TVRCC members and TVR owners in general are attending. If TVRCC were hiring the venue and making it a national event for it's members then it would be advertised as such, hence the reason that we were recommending that the initial date avoided other pre-planned TVRCC events.
As with other RWYB days, track days and car shows that our regions are attending, we are more than happy to list this on the events page on the web and in Sprint - all we need is the preferred wording sent through to events@tvrcc.com and it will be done.
It looks like it is well supported and I hope you all take along your regional flags and banners and have a great time, but I'm afraid it's not the kind of event that we would send a van, stand, staff and regalia along to at this stage.

[Moriarty mode] My take is that they have insufficient interest in promoting membership of the TVRCC at an event which they are not organising, which is Catch 22. If it was a TVRCC event, it would only be open to TVRCC members, and therefore membership would not need promoting. Somewhat short-sighted IMHO. [/Moriarty mode]
I think its quite clear, its not a TVRCC event and its a date to avoid arranging TVRCC events on as it will be the main attraction on that date thus any other event will suffer from low attendance.
If it was a TVRCC event it would attract club support and the due backing, as its not the TVRCC cannot expect to have the support bits on site as its not there event or place to do so.

I think the organiser tried to accomodate dates around the TVRcc stuff so as to get as many TVR's there as possible. [and hats off to him for it] Am I the only one growing weary of membership? Or have I missed something? I'm sort of glad their not involved.

I don't see how this is any different from the Classic Car show pegged onto MPH every year, but yet there is still a TVRCC stand there. Not sure why they're so opposed to endorsing it, but as they say 'Meh'! Those that want to turn up will do so, with or without TVRCC presence there.Their loss I suppose, but I can certainly understand why you're miffed and disillusioned.

Don't take offence Derek, they can't attend every event or they would be out every weekend (also several events happen on the same weekend).
Don't read anything into that the unfortunate "not the sort of meeting..." it's just bad phraseing. It's the competition/speed element that'll be their worry... not a "chavvy" styleee issue
They simply state that they support the event as a privateer event but aren't listing it as "official" as they would generally be responsible for Insurance liabilities and support.
Some of the bigger events have become TVRCC associated, but are still really privateer events. Pro's for the originator are said insurance and promotion whilst retaining control. Pro's for the club are raised profile.
To be fair, they generate very little traffic for the TVRCC out of these things, it just ups awareness in general.
IMHO Sprint is worth the TVRCC membership in itself...
