Interior/Trimmers

Can anybody recommend any decent car trimmers/interior specialists that are relatively near me (Croydon)

Here is why...

I've recently had a flip sat nav fitted but it also come with a separate auxiliary box which could only be fitted in the passenger footwell on top of the hatch thingy that hides all the wires etc.

Well the box has some weight to it and keeps making the hatch drop down when driving.

I would like someone to make me a new one that supports the box but also stops the hatch dropping.

I've tried to explain as best I can, sorry for lack of technical literature.

Any recommendations anyone?

Can't the box (Pioneer?) go under the seat, that is where I fitted mine on my Chim.

I use velcro to keep the panel in place, never drop down yet.

I've tried Velcro but it doesn't hold it that well. Maybe I'll try that one more time. What part did you Velcro down, both sides? Can't do the top because of all the wires above.

Could you use 'industrial' (?) velcro or something much stronger than the normal stuff?

That's what i'm going to try next.

If that doesnt work then an interior specialist will be required.

When you get to need something like that you are obviously doing it the wrong way IMO.

Using Velcro is a bodge at best.

All of my TVRs have used velcro to hold the ecu in place.

Yes, you have to love TVR

To the OP, the secure mounting of the hideaway unit is critical to the performance of the satnav.

Yes I know, the unit is secure it's just the hatch part that isn't

I've got some industrial strength Velcro tape now so will "bodge" it today.
