just went out to watch county TVR at Hullavinton, was there 5 minutes - didn't go on the airfield, driving out car just slid on the wet road straight into an M3. couple of scratches for him, horrible chunk missing out of front of mine.
Although I wasn't on the track I suppose it is classed as Private land - anyone got any experience of insurers in this sort of scenario? as it is all cosmetic (weep weep) I'm going to see if I can go without the insurers and get a headlight conversion done at the same time - anyone done this?
in serious upset mood at moment - all my fault, rain and hardly used side road = me just going straight on at a corner - only going about 15 mph must have been doing about 5mph by the time we made contact
DEVASTATED
quick responses would be appreciated!

You should have no problem with your insurers. Unless you were racing, speed trialling, using the car for hire or reward or in a competition or in any other manner mentioned in the usual motor-insurance exclusion clauses, then you will be ok in just the same way that you would if you had reversed into a car in Tesco's car-park. That would be private land but of course your insurers would have to pay.

I think that in this (tescos) scenario, the carpark is deemed to be the same as a public road, even though its private land, as the public have right of access to it.
The airfield scenario might be different if, for example, you have to pay to get in or sweet talk your way past the gatekeeper. If you (or anyone else) can legitimately drive straight in off the road, then insurance ought to be ok.
If you are not going via your insurance, I can highly recommend Tom Horsburgh near Guildford - an absolute craftsman, and very well priced. Call him on (01428) 608255
Headlight conversion might well be worth doing, whether you go via insurance or not.
Commiserations BTW

M3 driver is going to get some quotes and let me know - he seems a reasonable guy to be fair to him. I think i might go through the insurers tho, after all that is why we pay these premiums and i think his paint job will probably cost a packet the way he was talking - poor fella just got his wing resprayed as someone droveinto it in a car park - cost £1500! got protected ncd anyway.
One of the organisers has advised that the side road is an access road for cottages therefore a public road so fingers crossed no problems
