4.2 V8 comparison to 4.0 S6?
I'm sure this must have been asked before. But sadly
I've not yet driven either engine. So I wondered what people who've driven both thought.
For me I know a V8 is the only answer, I love the noise the AJPV8 makes and that really is enough of a reason.
But I know the S6 must have its followers too.
So I'm curious, how do they compare - in every respect. Why do you love one more than the other?
Cheers.

I can't really speak for the AJP as it has it's own unique sound over the RV8 but I came from an RV8 engined Chimaera with sleeved exhaust to my current S6 engined T350 with JP rear box.
The RV8 sounded loud and powerful but IMHO a bit agricultural and old hat. It was a fantastic sound especially under load but didn't make my spine tingle.
The S6 is much more supercar in sound, especially with the JP (and soon to be de-cats), revving up to 7500rpm it just screams and sounds really special.
The S6 is so happy to rev, though I do miss the low down torque of the V8s.
Each engine has its own band of followers but for me the S6 is the pick of the bunch, very closely followed by the AJP and then the RV8 at the bottom.

I've had both, a 4.2 Cerb and a 4.0 Tuscan. For me, don't want to get attacked here, the S6 sounds better it has an evil sort of bark with plenty pops and bangs. Cerb popped and banged too , so I think you will find people in both camps.
The 4.2 just pulled all the way through the rev range, where as the S6 doesn't do a lot until about 4k rpm when it just takes off. S6 much easier and docile about town, my 4.2 Cerb didn't really like towns tended to shunt a bit.
Depends what you want the car for, merits for and against for both engines. Either are superb race bred engines.

Well you say that, but having just gone from an 4.5 AJP Cerb to a 3.6 Speed 6 car with ACT decats and a JP sports exhaust, i'm shall we say pleasantly surprised with the volume and tone of the engine, there is however a noticeable differance in terms of straighline speed.

Your Valium is in the post. Poor lamb, the AJP just too much of an animal? ). Torque curve bangs in after 2K revs which makes it hugely tractable. You just need to get it mapped properly.
