T5 Gearbox. Good For What BHP/Torque?

Per the title really. How much power would you expect to be able to put through a MkI Tuscan gearbox before experiencing problems?

I have pushed a lot of torque through my standard box but have only had a certain degree of traction. Good traction but not as good as i need.
I reckon ive had well over 400lb/ft of torque dozens of times on the strip and the gearbox still behaves normally.
With new chassis and suspension pushing the power to the Mickey Thompsons this year i truly believe the gearbox to be the weakest link. A CTS replacement is my plan and hopefully will take the 600 lb/ft torque i have planned

i am with you, just had the quaife T5 bits fitted, dont fancy it all letting go when i boot it

483bhp and 420 lbs.ft sure was too much already.

Standard gearbox broke down after 6k-ish miles, 4 laps at Zandvoort and 3/4 of a trackday at Zolder. High torque version is fitted now, but haven't had the chance of trying it out yet, due to new injection system and cylinder head being installed. Has to cope with a lot more torque though.

I've got 410bhp - 430ft/lbs through mine and have done for a couple of years hard driving now with no problems...

450lb/ft via N/a or s/c'd is the max generally agreed

for Nitros/turbo, 400?. power delivery is too sharp I'd say but derek would know.

mine run quaife internals for 3 years of racing with no issues. 400lb/ft

The 'hit' from nitrous isnt that bad with the progressive controller but i do think ive been lucky with my standard 100k+ box upto now.

Is the CTS rebuild the same as 'quaife internals' or is there more work involved?
I heard its good for 600lb/ft IIRC

I thought those uprated CTS internals are made for CTS by Quaiffe..

I've always been impressed by the stick that Derek's Chim HAS taken over the years.

Perhaps some reassurance there for other owners.

I challenge anyone to keep pace with his gear-changes.

Not so a TKO 500/600 is slightly shorter than a T5 and only 15kg heavier.
