Just curious to those who went Griff to T350 or Sagaris. How much do you miss the open top aspect of Griff ownership? Scale of 1 to 10 (missing highest) plus comment please?

There's a couple on here, notably SAGRIFF. Griff to Sag.

He had a novel solution to missing his Griff.

He kept it.

, hmmm, I`d give it a 5, nothing against the griff, but the sag has always been my dream car.cloud9

Griff is the best for nice roof off sunny days without doubt. It sounds very good and goes and handles well too. I'd really miss it - 8.

Sagaris is the best on all other occasions. Goes and handles significantly better, but arguably doesn't sound as good as a V8.

I wouldn't choose to be without either.

Can't comment on the move from Griff to Sag, but feel the T350t could give you the best of both worlds - open top motoring when required with the modern styling and 'energy' of the Speed 6. I've had no complaints with mine:

I would have to say, if you really want the fully open top experience and can live with the looks of the Tam, they are a fantastic bargain at present compared to the T350's.

Couldn't justify Tam over Griff or T350. Sag more money than I like. Thinking T350. Not a T top though. Just don't know if a T350 is my kind of sports car over a bloody good 500, with the roof off is hard to beat. Was wondering how others have managed or how critical to them or not is the rag top aspect of TVR fun. I like that several have both, but then I'd ask how often do you choose the Griff over a Sag or T350 and why?

I first went from my old griff to a t350, and to be honest was worried about missing open top motoring, but then when I weighed up how often I did actually take the roof off I realised that I would n`t miss it that much.

I always kept the roof on when travelling on motorways to cut down on the noise of traffic ect, it was only taking the roof off for a local hoon that I really missed it, early summers morning, or evening was fantastic.

but the t350 was so much better in so many other ways that the roof problem didn`t enter into the equation to be fair.

see if you can blag a ride /drive in one and see what I mean.

or if you are one of the lucky ones keep it as well as the t car.

Thanks Clive. I intend to blag a ride in a T350 RR sometime soon. Your move to a Sag from the Griff you ended up with was a huge surprise. Didn't realise you'd been Griff then T350 though. So am I right in saying you went Griff - T350 - Griff - then AJPeed it - Sag?

no mate, from the start it was an S2, then a griff 500, got that to 337bhp and then changed the engine for an ajp8 with 410bhp, then the t350, then the sag.

weeping That's my old car weeping Still looks the bks, and looking at it can still see why I sold my Griff' for it. Loved the targa roof but boot space was a bonus on the griff when driving round Italy, South of France [twice] and back. Though in 3.6 form, the S6 didn't seem that quick.getmecoat

Got to say not much compares to the roof down experiance of a Griff! but would love a Sag just for the look, just would not part with the Griff, so i guess that puts me in the Sargrif camp!

......Or - go for a Tuscan.
Perhaps a better compromise??

All the advantages of roof off motoring, a large boot and a well set up one is as good as any T car?

I looked at T350's when I switched from the Chimaera, but just felt the load space was not the same.
'Spect I'll be shot down by the 350 & Saggy owners, but all IMHO.

Not at all. It's the thing I really miss from my old Chim. Thats not to say the T350 boot is small, but when the roof panels are out they do take a fair bit of floor space up and it's also not that deep, meaning that whilst it will take a fair load the cover won't always fit so the luggage is on show to the world.
As for the car though, theres not a chance in hell I'd ever go back to an RV8 car now I'm used to the S6. It's not about speed, some 500 Griffs and Chims are just as quick and with more low end grunt, but the way the S6 revs and screams to 8000rpm is pure magic. Handling as well is in a different league, my Chim was very well set up on Gaz Golds with polys on every bush etc. but the T cars are just so chuckable.
Thats not to say I don't miss my old Chim but the T's just take TVR to a more modern age.

I had a Griff for 13 years and switched to a T350.

2 facts as far as I'm concerned:

The T350 is a better car in every single tangible way.

The Griff is a far better car in that one single and most important, intangible way.

Hi Mac, hope all's well, good to hear from you again - the car is still superb and is an absolute joy to own (plus I'm not taking the depreciation hit you did...! Sorry redcardgetmecoat !).

I'm still looking to head up to Sag ownership for the summer, but if someone doesn't take it off my hands soon, I may decide to drop in a 4.3 from Power or Str8six to get that ultimate speed fix and keep it forever (and still be £10+K better off than getting the Sag...scratchchin)

Cool, good to hear you're well. The 4.3 thing is the way I'd go I reckon and all things considered now, that is THE car I would like to own. 'Our' hehe T350 with 4.3 TVR power conversion, couldn't get much better.
PS; Thinking on, the depreciation hit I took would've paid for the 4.3yikes Still a beautiful car and one I wish I still had.

I could could drive the T350 across Europe and be relaxed at the end. It handled better even though my Griff had Ohlins. The engine was far more engaging and thrilling to use, even though my Griff was a well worked 4.3 BV. The T350 wouldn't gas me on a long journey, pretend it had a flat battery when you stopped for petrol, it's roof wasn't a pain on the arse to take on and off.

Both were totally reliable for that type of car. The T is just a car that is a little bit better in every way.

But, the best road trips I ever did were the ones where I arrived baked, burnt, gassed and knackered.

Park the two together and it's the Griff that brings the smile.

If I end up with more storage space then it will be a Griff that gets that slot and not a T350 as it would be used infrequently and would simply make me smile knowing it's in the garage.

The Griff is the car that if I woke up too early one Sunday morning I'd go and take out for a pootle

But in a way the Griff

8000 revs what on earth are you up to ?
6800 tops then change gear treasure your engine and use the power and torque its well gone by 7500
