If you ever get married and start a family, I'd like to see what you have to say on the matter then!

Been with my girlfriend for over 7 years, as long we don't want for any basics in life I spend my money on what I like. She did tell me I was too young for a 911 though
No plans for kids, I really don't like most kids - they're so rude and assertive these days. Some kids are OK though. I'm sounding like an old fart now ...
- If you're selling 'cos you need the money then that's perfectly acceptable.
- If you are getting divorced and need the money then that's understandable.
- If you are selling because you think your car is crap/unreliable/you're just not cut out for TVRs then that's fine too.
- If you can't run it as a third car and need a more sensible day-to-day car then that's OK too.
But for the girlfriend/wife to dictate? That's what I mean.
To be honest, anyone willing to sell the TVR because the wife/husband/partner/girlfriend/boyfriend moans about it then its very probable their attachment to it wasn't that great in the first place.
I know if I received this 'moaning' from a GF I would consider whether we were really compatible.
Not because of my attachment to TVR, but because I would not expect/ask/moan to a GF to part with a treasured personal item, and would expect the same consideration in return.

I guess it's all about reaching a compromise. But unfortunately the impending arrival of a baby does usually mean that most couples have to give up certain luxuries which could be deemed unnecessary. It depends on their financial situation.
Newborns are soooo cute. They make up for any loss!
If your circumstances change, like the impending child scenario, fine. The little brats do cost a fortune. I can understand that. But, if you could afford to keep/run the car and the only reasong for selling it was the fact that 'the other half' moaned about it, I would be really miffed in that situation and would probably sulk in the shed for at least two months when the car was sold.

Had similar problem with my last girlfriend when I wanted to trade up. She didn't get to hear about the engine upgrades as I couldn't be bothered with the disapproving looks. Funnily enough we're not together anymore!
