Engine Upgrades for TVRs

TVR Power now offer retro-fit service

Owners specifying new TVRs have had the option in recent years of specifying power upgrades or 'Red Rose' packs as they're often known.

Now, TVR's subsidiary in Coventry, TVR Power are offering fully approved upgrades to Red Rose Spec for both the Speed 6 engine and the AJP8 as fitted to the Cerberas.

Price is £2500+VAT for the Speed 6 and £3000+VAT for the AJP8.

Full details from the chaps at www.tvrpower.co.uk

I wonder if this is an alternative if you have a speed six with worn fish fingers or similar?

Red Rose... handling improvement... better mapping... smoother drive + a few extra horses... better top end acceleration... worth it? Its good but not for that money, I dont think so.

I'd recommend save the dosh and just bang on some nitrons and get Austec to do a remap... better IMO.
And you get some dosh left over for the next service too.
(and stick on a black rose on the rear and join the Black Rose group )

Red Rose - jargon for "we know the problems and will sort them out and get her to perform the way she was supposed to, to begin with".... ????!!?!?

i think the 4.5 cerb is a bit of a con really.before i get flamed what i mean by that is the stated power output is 420bhp,but we all know that it is nowhere near this and even with a red rose upgrade you will be lucky to get 420+.
the red rose should be standard on the 4.5 as then you are getting the power that you were told you were getting when you bought it.to have to pay another 3k+ to get it there is a bit off really.

Really? I understood that most of the AJP engines put out roughly what TVR say they do. I thought that it was only the Rover V8 engined cars that got caught up in the bhp boasting of the 80's/90's. Rich...

Not even that good I'm afraid .. most 4.5s struggle to make 350, best std 4.5 I ever saw made 361bhp best 4.2 i think is still richard prebbles at 359.5bhp!!
Top marks to Power for offering these conversions though .. making fast cars faster .. exactly what we want to see

More to the point how long will it take to turn your car around?

And dont forget if your head is off then with new cams, then you will be running the car in again for 1000 miles and then a service bill of £XXX for the 1000 miles service and tappet adjustment.
