Is it just the Birmingham area or have fuel prices gone up by around 3ppl over the last 2 weeks?? They have gone up by a penny at a time and every time I drive past a Shell garage the standard unleaded price is up a penny, which means the Optimax is up as well (generally 5ppl dearer).

I notied that my local had gone up to 81.9p

However, I have also noticed that the car idles and drives smoother on BP ultimate so Im going to try the other variants too.

Sainsburys does superunleaded too.

Now before you think this is some kind of "value" brand, its actually the same as at other garages.
I used to work at a refinery and watch the tankers filling up.

Milton Keynes standard unleaded is now 81.9p/L , so I buy my petrol in Kempston where it was 80.5p the last time I looked. I have not looked at Optimax for a bit as the V8S has been off the road.

I have noticed Shell Optimax can be as much as 6p dearer than ordinary unleaded down south of the M25.

I usually consult www.aapetrolbusters.com before filling up to get the best prices locally.

Filled up with Optimax on the northbound M3 services at Hook yesterday. It's 89.9p/litre! Wonder if it's cheaper on the southbound.............

81p : Humbug.

When I filled the Chim up at the Shell garage in Cirencester a couple of days ago, they were 86.9p/litre

I'll be avoiding them where possible now......

A garage on Hayling Island is currently the dearest in the country charging a riduclous amount.
Not sure if its a Shell garage though but i thought I should warn anyone going to Hayling.

Listen, just be glad you can find the bleedin' stuff. My nearest Optimax outlet is 35 mins away... and not on any route I use daily!

I have to manage on Texaco SUL and BP Ultimate.
