Just got back from the usual Sunday morning blast and managed to pick up a cracked screen a 10” “L” that come down from the roof then towards the passengers side. Has anyone used the usual quick fit windscreen places or is this going to need a visit to the dealer.

Cheers
Paul

whatever you do, don't let the windscreen people do it, the insurance company may argue the point but just explain that they will be liable for a complete interior refit if they f**k it up.....and they will. Take it to a dealer cos it's a bugger of a job

I changed my windscreen last year on my 1998 Chimaera after a stone had cracked it.
I used the RAC who now have their own Windscreen Company.
I cannot fault the job they did.
I had to wait 24 hours whilst they got a screen from Blackpool, but the car was locked securely away in their workshop throughout. They fitted the screen with great care and cleaned the car inside and out once finished.

I also used the RAC Windscreen company when I had a Cerbera and suffered a smashed windscreen. They did a great job, even letting me stand and 'direct operations' as they did it. I used the branch in Luton. It took a couple of hours to do the work and then I left the car with them overnight to let the sealant set. It never leaked, no interior damage and it got rid of the milky white areas around the edges you see on some TVRs so it ended up being better than it was before.

Hum, interior refits – don’t like the sound of that! Gonna speak to my insurers tomorrow and see what they say, if a dealer fitted screen is out of the question then it sounds like the RAC know what they’re doing.

Thanks

RAC Autowindscreens did the job on my Tamora recently. I had it done at the dealers, and they said they only let the 2 guys who were there from RAC, do the work. Because they're so good. I had a stone chip repaired on my Chimaera windscreen by the other big screen people (name escapes me) and they were very good. Actually, the screen surround on the Tamora is better now than when it left the factory - it was peeling off in places, so apache, I reckon you're wrong on this one! Mind you, the screen was difficult to get out, and so the scuttle was scratched, which HHC are going to respray.

Just out of interest I’m still waiting for a new windscreen from TVR and according to Harrisons who do all the body work for Hawthorns, TVR are running stocks down on all Chimaera parts and are not replacing them in the numbers they used to – is this another sign of the Chimaera’s demise?
