car park scrape... insurance repair or not?
Discussion
Had a visit at work yesterday from a guilty looking colleague who confessed to 'catching' my Chimp in the office car-park (her second mishap there in two weeks apparently
). Result is one ugly srape from the leading edge of the o/s rear wheel arch across onto the trailing edge of the door. Luckily, seems there's no penetration or cracking of the GRP or gelcoat but paint will need stripping back and respraying. Will need to be blended along maybe half the car length.
Given the lack of GRP damage, the fact she seems willing to settle the bill herself, and past experience of waiting literally months for 'specialists' to get round to doing the job, I wonder whether a regular decent bodyshop would be appropriate for the paint work. Anyone had decent results doing this...? Ancillary question in another thread

Bummer - but at least she owned up I suppose.
Had a similar thing recently when one of the wifes colleagues scraped along the door of ours. Just be careful not to get it done too soon as sometimes the GRP will take a few days maybe a week before the cracking starts to appear.
For the repair to our door and a bit of blening on both sides was about £850 so I guess it all depends on her XS and stuff.
Where are you located I know a good place in Surrey without massive waiting lists?
