TVR for the weekend, What for during the week?

Had a £500 snotter but couldn't see the point of having the Tuscan in the garage and driving a snotter daily. Sold the snotter and bought a wafting Jag XJR. Nice and comfy although fairly thirsty (15 mpg) round town. Work is only a 10 mile round trip though.

This is my experience too.I ran 2 Chim's as daily drivers, then added a £1500 runaround to the fleet. The runaround then became a £10k Audi S3 (that seemingly cost more to run than the Tuscan, but I did do a lot of miles in the Audi at the time), and then "runaround" morphed into a 996TT, although in reality the Tuscan gets used more during the week and the practicality of the 996 is needed - 4 seats (kids), roof rack (bikes).
If I was doing it again, I would go for:
- Impreza or Audi S3 (one more fun, the other more refined and less of an "image"), both thirsty
- VW 1.9 diesel something - probably a Passat.
I use a x5 4.8is as my daily now after i sold my snotter mondeo.
Only problem is that the x5 makes the cerb seem economical!
Think its nice to have a daily runner as it makes the tvr feel more special when you do use it.
The missus has the best idea using a diesel,with the current price of fuel.

I have a T350 as an only car but am looking at having a little run around to compliment her.

The car will cost more to but than your typical shed but running costs (insurance mainly) will be cheaper.
The bug will be used for the short trips and for a shopping trolley and the beast will come out for the longer drives.

Company-provided MINI Cooper here. If I would have to buy my own daily, I'd probably end up with another old Saab, or something stupid like the current SOTW XJR and regret it.
There's something to be said for the simplicity of an 'everyday' car that doesn't need daily oil and coolant checks when you're doing 100+ miles a day, that you drop off for servicing without sitting by the phone with clenched buttocks all day, anticipating a moderate kick in the teeth but getting and accepting a massive one, et cetera.
Apart from that, MINIs have been jolly good fun on my commute and don't get on my t*ts on longer business drive (which can be anything up to 8-900 miles/day). Wouldn't be able to live with the usual lease fodder (Golfs, Astras, Passats...) -don't need the bulk/weight and if I can't feel the road I'll probably fall asleep on aforementioned long drives which I reckon would not be good for my health.

Same as you with the 4.8is great car but the tyres and the feul are a killer!!!!!!
Run a GSX-R1000 dependant on the uk weather which is about the only time i ever see decent mpg.
