A near perfect day to be drag racing.
Not too busy, very good startline grip for an airfield, glorious sunshine all day.
Cooler air would have been better. Having my car ready in time for this would have made it perfect.

Good to meet Peter (haicutmike) and Barrie (BPiper) in 2 very quick Chimaeras running 12.6 and 12.7.
Also a Cerbera running 12.4 IIRC and a rather quick Tuscan ran 12.2 on his last run after we advised he dropped his rear tyre pressures.

I will add some video clips asap.

Heres 1 off my iphone (have others to process from my camera)

Nice clip Derek, look forward to seeing others.

Thanks for your help and advice today, it was a real eye opener and quite addictive!

I can't believe I couldn't better my 4th out of 17 runs!

Cheers Barry as well.

Had a great day today as my mission was to get into the 12 seconds. Managed to achieve a 12.7 so came away a happy chappy.
Good to meet up with Derek and Peter, Peter and I had some good races, however he 'just' had the edge wink
Looking forward to Santa Pod in July.
Thanks for the tips Derek.

I reckon Peter will be needing a new clutch soon. (Oh and also to make his drivers seat adjustable wink) I felt like a 12 year old joy rider.
That sounds so wrong but you know what i mean laugh

How tall are you Alex?
I am about 5' 10 and had to slouch forward in the seat to get the clutch down.It was awkward but i still enjoyed it and cant wait to get back into mine.

What a superb day! Sunshine, nice people, and loads of great cars and bikes just having a relaxed day.

Was great to meet a few others (haicutmike) and (BPiper) as well as dbv8 later on in the afternoon. The Tuscan behaved itself really well for the whole day (windscreen seal, and roof lifting aside hehe)

Following Dereks advice and dropping the tyre pressures worked wonders and my final run was the best of the day:

Time: 12.28s
Terminal: 116mph
60ft: 1.93s

No idea if this is quick but it certainly felt great to stretch the cars legs, and the added bonus of having such a long runway meant 140+ was just about achievable. The car was rock steady with the roof off which was a little suprising.

I've uploaded a couple of vids here:

The Chims dualing it out. Somewhat calm but a great launch from both cars!
Vroooom

The Tuscan sounding cloud9

Fuel gauge... you tell lies!!!

Had to be done:

Kudos to this guy.. actually very quick!!

12.28 for a drag racing virgin is excellent. You no doubt have a very healthy Tuscan also.
Ive added you to the list and you are in an impressive 7th place!

With a pair of R888s at the pod on July 9th you would be running 11's

Damn! Wish I'd known about this as I live about 6 or 7 miles away. Sounds like great fun. Did a track day there last year and clocked 174mph on the main straight (according to the speedo).

Any plans for repeat session? Where will it be advertised in the future?

Excellent vids Derek thumbup !

Interesting, (although he hadn't reduced his tyre pressures) how the chim is quicker off the line but that speed 6 engine really revs and comes into it's own when it is stretching it's legs!

Oh and Derek, mine's only a 4.6 smile.
