slightly bent rim - possible repair needed

I have a slightly bent rim that I have only realised when replacing the worn tire at the blackboots tyre outfit.

It seems that the wheel weights needed to balance the wheel wasn't too excessive but when the technician showed me the slight wobble with the wheel turning at speed on the balancing machine, I could see what went wrong.


2 options are available to me:

1) buy a new wheel to replace the bent one
2) repair the bent wheel.

Can anyone recommend a wheel repair outfit close to London for this and is this something that can be done by a mobile repair shop? The wheel is pristine except for being bent and I wouldn't want it to be stripped and re-painted as I am concerned re matching the other 3 wheels. thanks

On most balancing machines the wheels are mounted by tapered cones through the centre bore, so a runout noticed on the machine doesn't necessarily mean that one exists when the wheel is bolted on to the hub.

If you're not experiencing any problems with vibration or wobble, I would disregard the runout noticed on the machine.

booked a day at lepsons. i hope they can heat treat and straighten the wheel..

I know its psychological but it affects me that the wheel is not round and true.

It's really really easy to spot the difference between an improperly mounted wheel and a buckled/dented one.
