Alright chaps,

I've got a Z4 and I'm fitting new ARB bushes, droplinks myself then plan to get it tracked including secondary angles (I know the former shouldn't effect this I just want to get it done).

I do however also have DSC. I've had neither a BMW nor a car with DSC before. Is it only a BMW dealer that can reset the steering position sensor? Or perhaps a decent indy?

I'm keen to use a chap I've used for years but he's neither.

Cheers,
Gareth

BLiNK Motorsport are able/have aligned several Z4 Roadsters - they use the Hunter Hawkeye system and have a steering angle reset tool for just this job.

It is important to do the reset otherwise error codes will be logged and stability control will be affected,

I would look for someone close to yourself that has the same equipment.

Then the car will not perform as it should - it is as simple as that! The steering angle sensor is an important input to the on board control systems.

Most alignment centres will tell you that because they have not invested in the equipment - BMW wouldn't have fitted the sensor if it did nothing!!

Whether the sensor needs reseting depends on if there are enough changes made for it to ave problems.
If it does, you'll see the DSC warning light, if not, then there's nothing to worry about.
