Just wondering what the best approach to this minor'ish problem is. Need to fit some poly bushes tomorrow, the existing bearing is 54mm long however the crush tubes I got are 48mm long. The poly bush is about 46mm long.

Knowing I cannot have the poly bush itself touching the frame the wishbone sits in (as the poly bush needs to be rigid and rotate on the crush tube) should I:

Simply add 2 (or 4) large spacers either side of the 48mm crush tube, making up 3mm each side.

or

Cut two crush tubes to 27mm each, with my "rough" cut sides outside the bushing obviously, clean machine cuts on the inside?

So in the end I cut two pieces of crush tube and pushed them in from either side. Should be fine as the wishbone rotates perfect and some PUR bushes come like this anyhow.

I thought the idea was to have the crush tube longer than the bush so it clamps to the bracket, the tube stays still and the bush rotates round it, washers then space the wishbone fire or aft as required
