I have an Impreza Turbo that is making a clanking sound when I brake. The garage where I bought the car are saying that the callipers make a slight movement and this is causing the sound. They also say that this happens on all models of Impreza and is nothing to worry about, I find this hard to believe and just wondered if anyone had any info or maybe have had the same problem?

Cheers

Well thanks for all your help I hope I can be of assistance to you in the future. Obviously I won't bother though as that seems to be the theme of the forum!

Mate, this area of the forum isn't the most active. Try posting the same question in General Gassing or Jap Chat.

Fair play Craig, you posted it in the correct forum that no-one looks in

Clonking calipers, doesn't sound like "They all do that sir" to me.
Sounds like the bolts are a bit loose, I know it may sound a bit simple but have you checked them.

Without a shadow of a doubt this website has the most knowledgable and friendly people that I have ever virtually met. There are regular meetings, the advice is invaluable. You have the wrong impression, and if you hang around a bit you will change your mind.
I didn't know this suspension forum existed either!!!!

Regards, Mike.

It seems that I have got the wrong impression of the people from this site and would like to apologise.

Also I took my car back to the Subaru dealer who had another look at the brakes. It seems that the problem was that the pins that hold the calliper were slightly loose and dry. They have tightend them up and greased them which seems to have fixed the clank.

Cheers for the help craiginsight
