Camber out of tolerance

Hi, just had the front wheels aligned & they can't get the OSF within tolerance & the printout marks it red (0.38 improved to 0.37. NSF is 0.10 yellow).
I've looked online but can't find what may have worn that would cause this (results are swamped with alignment explanations)- top of the strut, wishbone lower balljoint?
Can anyone advise on potential culprits/how to diagnose?
Many thanks.

How confident are you they're testing it correctly?

Reason I ask is that I had mine repeatedly reported to be out of spec on a hunter machine, after a while I took it somewhere else (also using a hunter) and they said it was bang on.

I suppose either it was miscalibrated or they were not using it correctly.

Try telling us what the car is and if it has either been modified or in an accident.

Don't the people who have tried to align it have any idea?

Have the struts been out for anything lately? Broken spring or something?

I'd had my front springs replaced on my last car and they hadn't seated the bottom of the strut all the way in so the camber was slightly out on one side. Looking at the car you'd never be able to tell as the difference was so small, was only noticed when taking the car for alignment a few months later as they couldn't get it in spec.

It looks like a small amount of camber anyway, would you notice when driving?

Hi,
I have no idea if the machine is calibrated correctly. The company is a long-established independent, so inspires more confidence than Kwik fit etc.

The car is an Avensis T220, done 135k miles, so I would expect wear, rather than to question the results. Back in 2010, the OSF was 0.02-green. I've owned the car for 10 years or so & no prangs in that time.

My wife collected the car so I didn't get any feedback from the garage.

Probably not, just want to get max life out of the tyres.

You can buy a front camber bolt which will allow the camber to be adjusted within spec, cheaper than changing whatever is bent/worn.

My thoughts. It's a tyre & exhaust place. They wouldn't (a) have really investigated (b) remember our car of the dozens that have been through.
That said, my wife did ask if any of the wear indicated anything wrong & the guy (who did the work) said no.

Looking back through previous results, over time both front wheels have had parameters that have been out of tolerance but have been in the next time with no remedial work: Haven't had the struts out or other suspension work done. Suggests to me that the machine can measure more accurately than the operators set it up. As Budgie Smuggler said then, is it accurate? The answer seems to be no, but then how do you know that anyone's machine is, unless you really know through reputation or its a race prep shop or something? Maybe it's not worth paying for laser alignment, just get my normal garage to do it with whatever gear they have?
