My Suzuki had its mot a few weeks back and had the following advisory-
Front (brake slip pads in incorrect position)
Previous to the mot there had been a knocking noise coming from the front. The garage advised to change the front brake pads which they did,the noise had then gone and all was well!
Out in it today it sounded like the noise is back
What are slip pads and what do they do?
Cheers Kevin

Could be referring to the thin anti-squeel shims that some calipers have, between the back of the pad and the piston.

Without actually seeing it....it really is a guessing game as to what they're trying to say...and whether they're even correct or not.

As said above it's probably the anti-squeal shims between the pad and the piston, although it's quite difficult to fit them incorrectly.

Why did you not query when you picked the car up?

Believe me I did a lot of questioning but as I’ve said they put it down my low mileage which I still think is a bit odd!

I can't see it being down to low mileage, that sounds like a "I don't know" answer.

As already posted, slip pads sound like thin shims that go between the piston and pad towards the leading edge of the pad, which is supposed to cut down on brake squeal, not knocking.

I've no idea about Suzuki but have seen various arrangements for retaining the pads in the calipers and stopping them moving about. Some are springs across the outer edges of the pads, others have metal spring clips that you assemble on top of the pads when you're fitting new pads. I suppose in some designs you might get them back to front ?

Other than that, no idea sorry. A photo might help but as it sounds like you're new to these brakes the best answer might be to simply go back to the garage and ask them to rectify whatever it is they've claimed is a fault. It can't take more than half an hour, can it ?

Here’s an update!
Took car to small local garage, they test drove it and put on on there ramp and found nothing wrong!
They heard the noise whilst driving it and put it down to worn front shocks and mounts so I had them replace them and all seems good now.
Won’t be going back to main dealer again, I sometimes think they know less about the cars they sell than anyone else!
