Hello all,

Have a Mazda 6 and after noticing a knocking noise when braking, saw the end bracket (almost at the complete rear of the vehicle) has broken away from the silencer..so system is loose.

It seems to me this bracket was welded to the silencer box, there is no way for me to bolt it on. It is rather like a ruler/straight plate, one end attached to the upper rear frame of car (and in rubber), other end to the silencer.

Can it be re-welded back on or is this a too dangerous job?

Sounds like an easy job for your local garage, ring them up and ask.

Ah thanks - appreciate the speedy replies. I'll give the local garage a call and get it done.

I'd be looking for reasons for it breaking - perhaps corrosion, or not being secured properly so that the exhaust is flapping around. It is unlikely to be as simple as re-welding a joint between two sound pieces of metal.
