Checking tyre pressures
Discussion
So the plate on my Golf says for the 225/45r17 tyres
Two people and small amount of luggage - 35 in every tyre
Five poeple in car and full luggage - 38 in front and 44 in rear.
A few questions:-
i. Should you check the pressures when the car is fully loaded?
ii. I drive around with myself (i.e driver only) with unloaded boot. - what the most appropriate tyre pressure?

You're over-thinking slightly. Two people and small amount of luggage - 35 in every tyre
Five poeple in car and full luggage - 38 in front and 44 in rear.
Think of those as "normal" and "heavily loaded".
