Let me preface this by saying that yes the car in question is a big Mercedes GL63, but for a set of brake pads to only last 1900 miles on any car, the brake job must have been bodged, right?

I had new front and rear pads and discs installed at 31,600 and now at 33,500 the rears are down to the wear sensors. The car has not been tracked (like you could track a boat), and has done mostly school runs and shopping trips.

Here are the rears:

I would go with that to but it would be unusual for both to stick I am assuming the OP means both I think the pads have a manufacturing defect .
If it is just one side then I would put money on what your saying

Bodged? How? Were they genuine parts pads or aftermarket?

Something amiss here. Rear pads can wear out quickly on track if your stability control it working really hard. But if both sides are evenly worn, and you aren’t trying to drift it everywhere with stability control on, then I find it really hard to beleive rear pads could wear out that quickly.

U sure they were actually changed? Or just paid for. If it was a main dealer I’d be asking them to try and explain how this could happen, especially if it’s in warranty.

Can’t imagine something that new would let your wife do a 500 mile journey with the handbrake on either.....at least not without some seriously smoking, firey brakes.

If they’re evenly worn, that kinda rules out sticking calipers aswell really

Both sides of the rear appear to be worn to the same level and I can’t say I’ve felt the calipers sticking. But then would it be obvious if the rears were stuck or partially stuck on a heavy suv with lots of power?

Electric Handbrake? Poorly adjusted handbrake in all likelihood, didn't you smell the burning pads?

Those with hill start can wear quicker too.

I don’t know. The company that installed them
Said they had trouble removing the sliding pins, but that was on the front calipers they said.

Genuine parts.

Yes it has an Electric handbrake, which can’t be accidentally left on.

Didn’t notice any smell :/

If there is still some meat left on them take it for a good run and then check their temperatures front and back

Our Mini went through a set of rear pads in 11000 miles, it has active cruise control that i believe uses the rear brakes to control the cars speed. Were they good quality pads ?

Genuine Mercedes. Although now I'm tempted to throw on cheap ones if it burns through them in only 1900 miles.

I would be checking the wire to the wear lead hasn’t been routed wrong and chafed through , those pads are well above where the wear lead would have worn through

A decent garage will show you the old parts that they've removed from your vehicle.
