I had genuine discs and pads fitted by Ford main dealer, around 10-15k miles ago, I then had my clutch changed and noticed the offside front disc was either warped or ill fitted following the recent work and would rub when braking.

I also noticed a significant lack in braking power, although it's only 115bhp and front disc \ rear drums, so not the best set up anyway.

I fitted a new set of Mintex Disc and Pads today, and the braking power, although still to slowly bed them in, is very good indeed.

Here's a picture of the discs...

They look like heat spots, your calipers are probably partially seized.

Not seized as far as I can tell, I was able to push back the pistons with no issues, the slide bolts seemed fine, don't seem to be binding.

They just look weird, I couldnt scrape the, I guess pad, residue off.

Beginning of this year I think, its a motorway mile cruncher. Rarely used at weekends though.

It might be as simple as an oily hand print on the rotor which has been smeared around by the pads. I imagine that sort of contamination could easily lead to brake judder or poor braking.

Make sure you read and follow the bedding-in procedure for your new pads and rotors. Quite often they need a specific sequence of heat cycles and not just gentle running.

Surely those are discs or should I get a lawyer to argue the point.

Well, yeh. He had his knee on the fender and his head under the hood. Of course they're rotors.

I thought this thread was going to be about your helicopter wink

It does look like they are contaminated with something, I once had a CV joint split on a Clio172 and cv grease went over the brakes and they looked similar to that. Ive also done track days with PF track pads and the friction material has contaminated the disc but it doest look as bad as your pic. The pads are also showing they are motorcraft, although I think owned by Ford the parts are not always the same as what was supplied in the factory.

Did the mechanic who fitted the stuff clean the new discs properly, and clean the hub faces where the disc sits - the latter takes a bit of time to do properly?

Unfortunately, I have no idea as it was done at a Ford Main Dealer... I'd have hoped... but...

I had the clutch changed recently then a week later a front hub bearing failed... then a warped disc... I haven't the highest confidence anymore
