Van is currently factory (T28 Highline). 2014.

As much as I love the ride and comfort, the front arches just look way too high off the wheels. The rear sits down nicely (although it is weighted down with stuff I carry).

I reckon, 30-40mm lowered at the front should do the trick as a happy medium. My question/dilemma is: coilovers or shortened springs? Does anyone here have any recommendations?

It's coming off road for brakes and bushes (might go for Powerflex) so figured it will be a good time to address the height issue while it's up.

TIA.

Decent lowering springs would do it. I'd fit them all round though. Don't go for cheap eBay coilovers !

Those or a decent make like Eibach, designed to work with your existing dampers.

They are one and the same.
The Sportline used to come with them as standard until about October 2013.
They are now an option you have to ask and pay for.
Even back then, VW would send the vans over from Germany and the UK garage would fit them.

I've got the bilstein b12 kit which has the factory sportline springs. The ride is fairly harsh on 17s but the body control is good. I tend to run fairly light so might be better if you have loads of kit in it. If I was doing it again I'd use a softer spring (anecdotally h&r sound good) or save up for the b14s. Problem is I can't find anywhere with spring rates listed so its all a guess as to what works well.
