Pretty straightforward. Looking for a decent set of tyres for my daily driver MX5. Decent performance, not too noisy, not too hard and uncomfortable. A good set of well balanced tyres.

Choice narrowed down to -

Bridgestone Turanzo T005 - Best on fuel costs, mostly decent on everything else. Wet performance seems to vary in reviews between "best" and "below average" so I'm not sure how that happens...

Michelin Pilot Sport 4 - Best on performance and grip. Seems to be worst on comfort and noise but hard to find out.

Continental Premium Contact 6 - Decent all round, no real weaknesses.

Dunlop BluResponse - Cheapest, quietest, probably pretty average on performance.

I would have preferred to know if any of these tyres are particularly terrible on wear, but that doesn't seem to be something that comes up much in reviews. Figures people on PH would have more actual experience with them and help out smile

Edit: turns out that Continental don't make the tyre in the right size, even though a website is advertising them in stock... it's not a website I've used before though so I'm not sure I trust it.

So if I stick to BlackCircles, then the choice is down to Dunlop BluResponse or the Bridgestone Turanza T005

I'd actually seen that one come up a couple times in the review comparisons, but as far as I can see it isn't made in the size I need.

I'm looking for 205/50/16 (though the Pilot Sport 4 will require 205/55/16), but the Falken isn't made in either of these sizes (at least not anywhere that I can see).

I just bought a set of PS4s following a similar thread. Not driven a huge amount on them yet, but happy with them so far.

Friend ran Dunlop BluResponse on his A3, seemed decent enough.

I’ve got Michelin Pilot Sport 4 on my mk5 Golf r32 and they really are good. Road noise and comfort is the same but they’ve given my car so much more grip and sharpness it’s unbelievable.

Unfortunately it seems that continental (according to their own website) don't make the tyres in the right size. So I wonder if the website I was finding it on (the only website that seemed to list them at all) is showing the wrong size or something... Dunno.

If I stick to BlackCircles, then it's either Dunlop Bluresponse or the Bridgestone Turanza T005

Hmm, seems another site is offering the Conti's, so maybe it's the Continental homepage that's wrong... how weird.

But yeh, no Michelin Pilots unfortunately.

So it's only between:

Conti Premium Contact 6
Bridgestone Turanza T005
Dunlop Sport BluResponse

Hi, so what did you decide in the end? I have a similar question. Looking to replace tyres on my Toyota Auris and confused between PS4, CPC6, and BTuT005. They are selling for 67, 60, 50 on BlackCircles, respectively.

PS4. They’re not uncomfortable imo and Michelin perform consistently as they wear whereas my experience of Continentals on my Boxster was that the grip fell away considerably by the time they were worn to 4mm.
