Suspect suspension knocking Ginetta G40 help
Discussion
Hello all,
I’m after a little advice & guidance, I bought a Ginetta G40 (ex race car for 2 seasons now on the road/trackdays) the car has covered 3k mileage,I have a ‘knocking’ noise from the rear left of the car which I cannot pin down, the noise starts when the car is in motion & seems to be related to suspension movements,no change in the noise under accelerating/ braking/ coasting/ cornering etc, on a bumpy road the noise is more.
so far I have replaced coilover bushes top/bottom both sides,L/H outer drive shaft CV joint, all the ball ball joints inc both ends of the tow link.
I have checked the whole back end of the car & had it all apart several times but cannot track down the noise.
My only lead now is if you kick the rear L/H wheel at the 3 or 9 o’clock position with the car on the ground you can replicate the ‘Klunk’ noise. There is no play in the rear hub/wheels bearing.
Any ideas as I am at a loss,my only thought is replace the rear bearing/hub?

Get somebody to do that while you grovel underneath and work out where the noise is coming from. Just putting your hand over a joint can give you a good sense of whether the joint is moving.lewistrott said:
Thanks for the reply,I have tried this several times but can’t pin point to issue
Suggest you go back and do it again. If you're touching the part in question you ought to be able to feel it when the noise occurs, and if there's play in a joint that will be obvious if you have your hand on both sides of the joint when the noise happens.Gassing Station | Suspension, Brakes & Tyres | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
