as the title says, I went over a small humpback bridge at about 40-45mph, it did feel like the car went in the air (probably didn't) and then there was a thud afterwards. can't see any damage to the underneath of the car, no marks or scratches - what could the noise have been? have I done any damage?

Front spoiler/lip scraping/banging ?

Oil sump crashing ?

Load of crap in the boot bouncing up and down ?

Wallet falling out of your pocket ?

I doubt it was on the jounce bumpstop, that would have needed to have been a hefty drop. It could have been the strut hitting its rebound stop on full extension, if the wheels had just left the ground, though that is much more softly controlled on modern vehicles.

What vehicle?

Once did get air in a company 406.

Landing comes up very very quickly and it's noisy, it's not like slow motion on the telly!!!

Not sure I'd welcome it again!

I remember getting some air in my mates old B reg Metro. Thing is the light switch on an old metro is on the side of the steering colunn and is incredibly easy to catch with your knee.

Landing with a massive crash and immediately loosing the lights made it very exciting eek

I discovered a hump back bridge during a night road rally, doing at least 50 mph. The car (a 2 litre Vitesse) landed in a shower of sparks. I didn't see any obvious damage until a few miles further on when I noticed that we were leaving a trail of smoke. We stopped and I discovered that the silencers were coated with EP90 gear oil. There was a hole in the diff casing which I covered up, after pouring in some Molyslip that I had in the car. Later investigation showed a tooth missing from the crown wheel.

What exactly happened, I don't know, but I'm sure it was connected with my yump!

I destroyed the sump of my mum's car doing this, and because the wheel alignment was also buggered up I also destroyed two front tyres. I owned up and apologised many years later.

Maybe check the alignment, or check the wear of your front tyres a bit more frequently for a while.

sump damaged or if youre unlucky the dent in its so bad its bust off the oil pump pick up and strainer inside. you wouldnt know it as oil pressure is not greatly affected but not good if you run low plus you lose oil pick up when cornering depending on the position of the break.

Your nuts have finally dropped !!!
I punched the rear spring hangers into the boot of an old Hillman Minx by jumping a double hump back bridge when I was a teenager .
