Hi there

I'm looking for some help on the following; I noticed a noise (dull clicking) from the front o/s of my Fiat Doblo 2017 (25k) van yesterday whilst turning the wheel so jacked the front end up today. The noise appears to be coming from the spring, which moves as the wheel is turned (please see video where you can hear the noise). I've never come across this issue before and would be grateful for any info on what would have caused this and a possible fix. The spring doesn't appear broken.

Video can be found here - https://youtu.be/2xH9xQNrCYs

Thanks
Tim

It seems to me you have worn top mount bearings. The top mount bearings allow the spring to swivel with tyre and shock smoothly, yours seem worn and are not moving freely.

This. They're consumables on our Fiat Ducatos, mostly because they deliver to farms. frown

Many thanks for the quick replies; from what I've not read it does seem to to be a common fault with Fiat.

Still under warranty Shurley?
In theory yes, but I have very, very little faith in Fiat or their dealers.... I bought the van new and since then the power steering has failed whilst driving four times. On each occasion it was recovered to various Fiat dealers, all of whom blamed the previous garage, but none of them went beyond reattaching the power steering hose. I attempted to reject the van, but that was refused by the supplying dealer; I then took them to the small claims court (they were blaming Fiat UK but my contract was with them). The case was meant to be heard on Thursday, and they settled (cash sum instead of rejection) at the last minute thankfully.

Would this top mount be considered a warranty item? It's a bit of a hassle to drive to the nearest main dealer and leave the van (only certain Fiat dealers cover commercial); will give them a call in the morning to see what say.

Thanks again.

I've had no problem getting these replaced under warranty, but then I've been buying for more than 20 years from the same garage.

It maybe also helps that we also do all servicing at the same garage during the warranty period (do it ourselves once the vehicles are out of warranty).

I took the van into Fiat and they replaced both sides under warranty; they mentioned that there is a service bulletin on them for the Doblo.
