Ford Fusion - front and rear brake system

Hi all,

I have a Ford Fusion 1.4tdci. Really good runner, i’m going to have my brakes done next week.

The front are discs and the rear are drums. Im purchasing them myself, i’ve purchased just the front pads, and rear brake shoes.

Is there anything else i’ll need to buy for the mechanic to fit them? Eg. accessory kits, with any little fiddly bits, Or will the new pads and shoes be suffice?

Also, I think the handbrake works off the rear shoes, once the new ones are adjusted will this make my handbrake more efficient, as its about 7 clicks atm.

No, nothing else should be required.

How do you know the rears need replacing. What about the front discs?

Do you know the mechanic personally? Because buying your own parts and saying fit them, to a garage you don’t really know too good won’t go down well. From your questions you’re asking I’d say leave it to the garage/mechanic to get the parts.

Do you you the condition of your rear drum accessory springs? Rear brake cylinder not leaking? The condition of the drums?
Condition of front Discs?
All potential parts that may need replacing.
