Hi guys, new here smile bought a 66 plate 5 door fiesta st-2 recently with barely any miles on it. Everything has been fine with it over the past few months, but this week I have noticed the brake pedal seems to be squeaking when releasing. Its definitely coming from within the cabin in the footwell, doesnt sound like the brakes themselves. Has anyone else experienced this before? Im thinking of just spraying some wd40 and seeing if that helps.

It seems fairly intermittent. Sometimes it does it, sometimes it doesnt. Checked by pushing with my hand too, so its not my shoes wink

Thanks!

Might do better with a bit of white grease. Should last longer than WD.

Thanks for the tip! I had a good look in the footwell but struggled to see the assembly really. Gave a couple of tiny bursts of wd40 and it has calmed it down a bit (though it’s still there). I’ll give the white grease a go, is it a spray or would I have to dismantle the moving parts and grease them?

Spray grease would do but you might struggle to get it into the bearing. Oil would be better. Pretty much any oil dripped into the top of the exposed face of the bearing would find its way in. WD40 is probably too thin to last long but has the advantage of coming in a spray can. You might be able to find a heavier oil in a spray can too - anything between grease and WD40 (light oil) would probably be fine.
