MG ZT 260 ABS Light on

My dad has an MG ZT 260 with the ABS light on.
Car starts, light goes out, moves away and the pedals judder a bit and the light pops on.
Where to start, suspect its sensors or reluctor rings, possibly a wheel bearing, speedo is working which apparently comes off one wheel so that ones prob ok.
How do you do electronic diagnostics on these, T4 ? where to get that ?

Beg/steal/borrow a code reader that can read live data & open up the page for ABS sensors when you drive off you will/should see all 4 read the same.
If one is a bit out check tyre sizes, if one is not reading that will be the prime candidate.

Easy enough to do, just need a decent code reader that will read ABS faults and live data.

With a good inspection light, check the rings carefully for a split/break. Fairly common fault on Rover, not sure if rings available seperately for your model, but would expect them to be.

The 75 doesn't have "rings" you can inspect, it's just a metal disk built into the hub/bearing, which the sensor picks up. FWD and RWD 75's/ZT's are not the same. The 260/75 V8 has reluctor rings on the rear driveshafts, visible from under the car.Its common for the rings to swell due to corrosion on the driveshafts, and this eventually leads to the holes in the rings 'machining' the end of the ABS sensors.
I ended up replacing a driveshaft as I couldn't find a suitable replacement reluctor ring with an undersize bore to get the correct shrink fit on the old cleaned-up driveshaft.
Another possibility is a fault with the Bosch ABS module.
Nick at Austin Garages in Burton is a bit of a 260 expert and has a T4 if you cant find anyone closer to have a look.
