Just want the PH’d beards to confirm my thoughts really.

Front n/s shock felt a bit harsh on some country roads this morning. Had a visual check and found this.
I guessing the shock has blown?

Yeah that's leaking, won't be working properly at all. What are the other shocks like, how old is your car\mileage? Always replace shocks in at least pairs, don't do just the one.

Thought so.
It’s a Volvo V70 with 160k on it.
I’ll stick it into my local Indy and at least get the front pair done.

If they are the original shocks and you plan on keeping it a while I'd get all 4 done, at that mileage even if the others aren't leaking they wont be in the best of health and rear shocks are generally cheaper and easier to change than the fronts.

I don’t think so. It’s a rare AWD V70 but I think standard suspension.
I’ll plan to replace 2, but budget for 4....

At that mileage a new set of shocks will make a big difference to how the car feels to drive as well.
