Just started to have some small braking vibration through the pedal and steering wheel when braking and a cursory look at the brakes reveals the rear brakes look as expected,Disc - no lip, clean, no cracks and no pitting, blocks with over 50% life in them

However the fronts look a bit odd, the disc is smooth, shiny, crack and pitting free but the brake pad on the outside ( haven't looked inside yet) looks to have worn a bit oddly, ie not square to the disc so the top of the pad is now thinner than the bottom.

I'm thinking a sticking caliper maybe?

I'm going to take it off, clean it up with new pads and check the discs with a dti guage for runout but has anyone seen it before?

I'm used to seeing them worn tapered front to back but not top to bottom. It makes me think the caliper is either flexing (which would be a huge worry) or if this is a single piston caliper it may be twisting on its slides.

Sounds like a sticking caliper slider.

I'd go with a sticking slider also. I had a similar issue where someone previously had used copper grease or something on the slider bushes and it had caused the rubber to swell. There was also a tiny bit of corrosion in the slide pin holes. My rear o/s brake squealed - very annoying!

I did all four corners and used my Dremmel with the wire brush attachment to buff the slide pin holes, the sanding pad attachment to buff up the slide pins (had a little bit of black crude on them), buffed and cleaned the calipers etc and put new pads in. I only used Ceratec lube and avoided using copper grease.

No more squealing and my brake judder has gone.

I suppose i should update, the slider was indeed 'sticking' and it had warped the disc damn it, so a session with a wire brush and grinder, new oem discs and pads and shes stopping like a good un.
