DIY Rear Shocks MK1 Yaris
Discussion
53 Plate MK1 Yaris. Around 70K Miles.
Has become a bit harsh from the rear when going over bumps, etc.
I am guessing Shocks.
I have never replaced Shocks before.
This makes it look very easy. No Springs to compress.

I have Trolley Jack, Axle Stands and a variety of Spanner, Sockets, etc.
Anything to be wary of? Maybe worth making sure the exposed Nuts aren't seized before ordering the Parts? (I drive a 2008 Mazda !!)
Is it worth paying a bit more for a known Brand?
£17 each for a make I have never heard of. Around £30 for Monroe/Sachs/Bilstein.

It'll be a pretty simple job IMO, looks like generic FWD rear end twistbeam shocks.
I'd recommend wire brushing the threads on the bottom end and giving a dose of PlusGas (other penetrating oils are available) a day or so ahead of actually doing the work. Top end fasteners being on the interior side should mean they're ok to deal with.
If you don't have a breaker bar, might be worth getting one.
I'd always buy a "known" brand damper if I could, at that price differential, I'd spend the small amount extra.

Replacing rear shocks literally is that simple, although without a lift you will obviously need to jack the car up & put it securely on axle stands instead.
For a little "shopping trolley" like a Yaris it really isn't worth spending lots for such items but if you can find a brand you have heard of you will probably be fine.
