Rainsports are highly recommended by some people on this forum but in magazine tests they are usually some way off the abilities of premium brands.
Who to believe?
The last summer tyre test I saw which featured both Rainsport 3s and Pilot 4s, the Rainsports were 4th quartile in the dry and 3rd quartile in the wet compared to Pilot 4s being 1st quartile for both dry and wet.
As for whether that applies on our broken tarmac surfaces, or in winter, I don't know.
I have P Zeros on one of my cars which, in tests, are not far short of Pilot 4 (again, being 1st quartile dry and wet) and I agree that the P Zeros are excellent in mild weather, but quite skittish in cold weather.

Note, AD08R are now replaced with RS, a few inconsistent reviews on them that I've read.
Rainsports are often reccomended by the same people who used to run Toyos T1's.
They are reasonably good value tyres, particularly in the wet (duh) and very good value. They do also work well on lighter cars (like the Toyos did), popular for wet trackdays for Clios/MX5s etc.
They are not in the same league as Pilot Sports, or Goodyear Eagles (which I prefer to Michelins usually).

PS4 's seem to be the benchmark for performance in every category.
I've had some on for about 10,000 Miles now, with 1/3 the power - They've got about 4mm all round, which isn't bad considering my driving (Weekend only) and using them for a carlimits day, and a few other autocross like activities - I'd say they've held up excellent.
Furthermore, there is an offer on at Costco - You'll get ~£100 off of a set of four depending on what size you need.

I'd suggest the Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric 5. They're (roughly) on par with the PS4 in terms of grip, perhaps a little behind, but they were significantly (about 25%) cheaper when I bought a set of four and have a firmer sidewall, so IMO "feel" better than the Pilot Supersports I had before.
Had rainsport 3's on my e91 bmw. Heavy car and where great, lasted well and loads of grip.
Put PS4 on my Leon daily few months ago and have been fantastic. Reason I fitted them is they where a lot cheaper fitted at Costco than RS3's.
I would buy the PS4 again as RS3 is no longer its now RS5 and I have no review of them.
