Hi guys,

Im having issues fitting piston boot / dust covers.

The calipers have just been powder coated, should they have coated the lip like this?
I cannot get the cover on or stay on at all!
Will I need remove / sand this bit of coating off back to bare metal and try again?

At a guess the groove they 'pop' into is filled with the coating material.

Thanks finlo,

There isnt a grove on the lip at all on these, I stripped them and checked them all before they got coated.

Could you warm the dust seals and smear some vaseline onto the caliper?

Do the seals also fit an inner lip/groove inside the bore? I've found those can be a bit of a pig to get in on some calipers.

No inside lip on these ones. Just the outside rim and the piston itself.

I think the coating is too slippy.

I’ve started sanding the other caliper rims to try again. Fun and games!
