Strut mount rubber loose

Hi,

As per the image, the rubber seal has moved to the side at the top - it does not move.

Should I take my car to my local garage for a repair or is it ok to leave as is?

I haven't noticed any issues whilst driving.

Your strut top is completely goosed & it needs sorting out IMMEDIATELY.

There are also no (it seems) nuts on your strut top studs and at least one of the studs is missing completely.

This is very dangerous & needs IMMEDIATE ATTENTION!

I would drive it VERY carefully & only for the ABSOLUTE minimum distance to get it sorted.

That looks like it will drop out when lifted in the air at least two of the retaining bolts /nuts seems to be missing

I'm still taking the car to the garage and limiting driving it before then.

I've uploaded a photo of the drivers side struct which I've just checked and also appears to missing the same nuts as the passenger side (as per my initial post). The car is a Citroen C2, so not sure if this is normal or not.

That one looks even worse!!!!

The strut top bush seems to be trying to escape out of the top of the mount!

DO NOT DRIVE IT EXCEPT FOR STRAIGHT TO THE GARAGE!!!!

As there is only a single stud per side in the OPs case I suspect they have nothing to do with retaining the strut. Plenty of cars do not have separate fixings to retain the strut top, they just rely on the big top hat washer with the rubber buffer. The strut clearly can't drop out of the hole either way, so whilst the top mounts look knackered and must be replaced it's not quite the life or death situation you seem to be implying.

As ever no make or model of car has been given, so hard to confirm.

You are of course correct that some cars don't use separate fixings but as there are what looks like studs/holes for these I ruled that type out as I have not seen one like that before, only those without any studs/holes for fixing.

You are also right in that car make/model would help.

It's one stud with no retaining nuts looks to be the design of these very unusual

But the one in your first picture definitely looks like its needs replacing due to wear
But not falling out of place dangerous like it looked originaly
