Mixing Pilot Sport 4

Hi,
At present have 4x Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres on the car. Fronts now need replacing (rears still OK ) and have seen Pilot Sport 4 DT1 is now available in 235/40/R18 also. Any problems replacing the fronts with these while the standard MPS 4 tyres remain on the rear of the car ? Presume it will be OK ?

Not a specific answer to your question, but I personally would never recommend different tyres front/rear.

I know in your case the difference is minimal but lots of cars are really sensitive to different tyres front/rear or side/side & it can affect handling/road holding adversely.

Of course it's ok. The general public seem to get by with a different plastic Chinese ditchfinder on each corner, so a minor variation on the same model of tyre is perfectly reasonable

It will be fine it's a road car not a race car
Lots of. Ars have 2-3 different tyres on the car and it makes no difference to then

Yes they do & generally if you drive such an equipped car after one with a matching set you can actually tell it isn't quite right.

Yes, it CAN make a difference as I said, and some cars are far more sensitive to tyres than others.

How many times on here have you seen posts from people with handling issues that have been sorted by tyre changes?

BMWs are particularly sensitive to mixed tyres, especially the 4 wheel drive variants, and at this point we don't know what the car is.

I've seen nobody with handling issues caused by mismatched tyres
