The answer to that question could take a long long time, so let's start with basics.
You need 4 matched tyres with the correct pressures that aren't "ditch finders" & a 4 wheel alignment doing, that will cure MANY MANY issues.
Give us more of an insight into what is the issue rather than "handling" if you want more specific information.

Rock hard minimal movement suspension and tyres with minimal aspect ratio will always hop skip and jump over road bumps.
But, as above a decent set of tyres inflated to normal (not high speed heavy load) pressures can make a massive difference, wifes humble C2VTS of the time was awful on its original Michelin Pilotes for handling tramlining noise etc, improved as much as that car could be in every way by a set of Vredestein Sportracs.

Yes, replace all tyres and suspension components with brand new OEM parts and then have a 4 wheel alignement carried out. Surely the only answer to a how long is a piece of string question!
