Found the problem with loose crappy steering on the GTI - split front wishbone bushes. Opinions differ whether to replace the bushes or whole arms. Any thoughts on this and recommended aftermarket brands? I'm going to assume the bolts are single use if anyone can confirm would be great thanks.

If the arms are rusty then go with new arms, if theyre in good condition just go for the bushes, however......you may find it cost effective to just have new arms fitted as in either case the arms have to come off and if you just go for changing bushes only youll have to have the bushes pressed out and new one pressed in (added cost/time). If it was me i would go for new arms and be done with it.

Going to buy the arms, less hassle that way. Also found out the stretch bolts are one time use only.

If you are giving the front end a bit of an overhaul one of the best bang for buck upgrades on the mk5 is whats called a "anti lift kit" which adds additional castor to the front end along with a far more solid mount including a poly bush. This gives improved steering feel and when combined with more camber a much improved turn in /steering response.
