Hi
Just a quick one, I've posted before about my knackered ford focus which managed to sail through the mot much to my surprise.
Anyway for the past week starts fine revs etc I take the handbrake off and I can't get it too move, Yesterday I tried for about 10 minutes to get it too move gave up and drove my other car instead. When I got home I gave it another go a finally I got it to jolt backwards in reverse a lot of screeching and the brakes sound very rough and gritty ( its hard to describe).
Any suggestions on what to do to stop this or is time to take it back to the garage ?
Many thanks

If the car won't move ,the brakes are stuck on.
I'm surprised the clutch lasted 10 minutes of trying to make it move ,you've probably taken years off it's life .

Has the car been standing for a while ,the brakes rarely stick on that badly overnight ?

Rear drum or disc?

Does the handbrake lever feel like it has very little resistance?

smile The clutch was fine ( didn't smell), its my daily driver the most it stands is a day or two and thats rare and it hasn't been raining here so I don't think they've got wet. Not sure why its started that but it does always seem to have something wrong with it.

Well obviously the brakes are stuck. So find out which brakes and fix them.

I'd guess a shoe lining has unbonded itself and slipped around.
As above, find out which brake (jack a wheel at a time) and fix it!

It doesn't need to start to determine what wheel is stuck
