Have the tyre fitters really checked my tracking?
Discussion
I had 4 new tyres fitted yesterday at a well known tyre centre. As the old tyres had been scrubbing the outside edges I paid to have the front wheel alignment checked and adjusted.
When I went to collect the car, I was told that the toe adjustment was out by 3° on one side and 1° on the other and that this had been corrected. I wasn’t given any given a print out of these readings and just had the fitters word for it.
It being a Friday evening and me being a suspicious old sod I decided this morning to have a look for any signs of adjustment having been carried out.
I would have expected to see witness marks on the
track rods and track rod ends lock nuts. They look completely undisturbed with no tool marks at all.
I don’t want to wait for the edges of my expensive new tyres to provide me with evidence of my suspicions, so am wondering what to do?
If I go back and claim the work hasn’t been carried out and they continue to insist that it has, I’m not qualified to evidence my claim.
Whats the best way forward?
