Steering issue

Got my lad an SLK (cheap) and he’s learning in it. Problem is the steering doesn’t want to self centre. You have to turn it. Okay in a straight line, particularly worse on sharp turns like junctions etc when it feels like the steering wheel wants to turn in the direction rather than come back..

I”m thinking geometry/steering alignment?

Yes, it does. 2009 vintage.

I'd imagine an alignment check would be a cost effective first step.

I note that your SLK, being a 2009, will have HPAS. There probably was the option of variable ratio dynamic steering, but iirc that's still mechanical and not electrical.
